1977 British Journal of Psychiatry Evadyne
-
Event when the classification is not crystal clear. Whether the patient is agitated or lethargic, depression is nearly always dramatic. The present can't be coped with - and the future is something to be feared. For patients like this, Evadyne combines a profound anti-depressant effect with a rapid anxiolytic action. Within three to four days, anxiety is relieved and the outlook starts to look more rosy. The patient discovers that she can communicated and co-operated once more. As early as the second week, the symptoms of depression are relieved and the way ahead seems clearer. Evadyne provides a whole new outlook on the management of depression., Butriptyline Hydrochloride, Ayerst, A psychic leaning on a table, holding her hand to her face with a negative expression. A crystal ball is in front of her, as another individual is seen in the back looking at her.

Stress is…sometimes occupational…frequently financial…probably physical…occasionally…or environmental…and often anti-social. Fluanxol is…uniquely suited to treatment of the complex depression/anxiety syndrome so often triggered by stress. A recent compares with amitriptyline in the treatment of mild or moderately severe depression showed that: "all in all, the trends consistently favoured flupentixol (Fluanxol) both with respect to the adequacy of the anti-depressant and anti-anxiety effects and to the paucity of unwanted effects. The balanced action of Fluanxol quickly relieves the range of symptoms which may not respond completely to an antidepressant or tranquilliser alone. Maximum effect occurs within the first week of treatment, there is no risk of habituation and seldom any side effects. Fluanxol - probably the fastest way to deal with depression and anxiety., Flupentixol, Lundbeck, A series of images showing different patients in different situations where stress can be found.

Some antidepressants enable your patients to take life more easily. In depression the risk of suicide is increased. Many antidepressant drugs increase this risk considerably. Fluanxol is effective, non-sedating and quick-acting in the treatment of depression. In addition, clinical reports show that in overdose it lacks the acute toxicity of other antidepressants - up to 3 months' supply of tablets have been taken in unsuccessful suicide attempts. Fluanxol controls the depression and reduces the risk of fatality., Flupenthixol, Lundbeck, A black-and-white image of a female pouring pills out of a bottle into her hand as she looks down at her hand.

1977 British Journal of Psychiatry Lentizol
-
Three phases of Lentizol. Rapid onset. Early improvement in sleep pattern; rapid elevation in mood, with relief of anxiety symptoms. Continued effect. True antidepressant effect begins in 7-10 days - as soon as with any other antidepressant. Sustained benefits. 2/3 dosage of ordinary amitriptyline; safer for the patient, with less risk from overdosage/attempted suicide. Lentizol simply better antidepressant therapy., Amitriptyline Hydrochloride, William R Warner & Co, Three sketches of the same women's face; the first sketch shows the side of her face, with the final sketch showing the front of her face.

Lentizol broad spectrum antidepressant. Lentizol raises brain levels of both noradrenaline and 5HT, disturbances of which are known to be a major factor in depressive illness. As there is no way of knowing which amine is depleted, it makes sense to use a broad-spectrum antidepressant initially. Lentizol is now regarded as a first choice antidepressant for general use, being preferable to those antidepressants which primarily influence only one of these biogenic amines. A better chance of success from the start., Amitriptyline Hydrochloride, William R Warner & Co., Multi-coloured bars lined up beside one another like a rainbow.

1977 British Journal of Psychiatry Ludiomil
-
Ludiomil simplifies the treatment of depression. Unique 75mg tablets in daily reminder packs of 28. UK results in 5000 patients confirm the efficacy of once-daily Ludiomil: Well tolerated full dosage from the outset. In the first week side effects were absent or mild in 80% of patients on Ludiomil. This excellent tolerability means that full dosage can be given from the start. Early onset of effect. By the end of the 1st week, 69% of patients were already feeling better. Appetite, mood, anxiety, and insomnia often begin to improve within 3-4 days on Ludiomil. Reduced need for hypnotics and tranquillisers. Ludiomil also relieves anxiety associated with depression, thereby reducing the need for supporting tranquillisers. In addition, the mild sedative effect of Ludiomil helps the patient to sleep through the period of peak absorption - minimising any possible side effects. 'Sleep may be the Key.' Sleep disturbances are considered by many authorities to be a key symptoms of depression and some have even proposed sleep disturbance as a causative factor. 'Sleep may be the Key' is a 15-minute filmstrip which reviews the normal sleep pattern and examines the effects upon this of antidepressant therapy., Maprotiline Hydrochloride, CIBA, A drug packet containing drugs, each labeled with a day of the week. Also a film strip is shown.

New Merital 25. Two distinct actions in depression. 1. Improves depressed mood. It is widely believed that the ability of antidepressants to affect central amine neurotransmitters may be the basis for their therapeutic activity. Merital 25 is a potent inhibitor of noradrenaline re-uptake from central synapses, an effect which has been related to improvement of mood in depression. 2. Restores drive. Merital 25 is the first effective psychotropic agent for depression which has a significant inhibitory effect on dopamine re-uptake from central synapses, an action which is believed to enhance the general level of drive and activity. An entriely new type of agent for depression. Free from sedative effect. Of 938 patients treated with Merital 25, dorwsiness was noted in only six (0.64%). Exceptionally well tolerated. Anticholinergic side effects were seen in less than 2% of patients treated with Merital 25. Rapid onset of action. Studies have shown that patients treated with Merital 25 respond within 7 to 10 days. Freedom from cardiotoxic and hypotensive effects. No signs of cardiotoxicity or changes in ECG in patients have been reported., Nomifensine, Hoechst, An image of 2 brains; in one of them there are blue cylinder objects sticking out. In the second brain, there are red rectangular objects sticking out.
