New from Janssen research. Nizoral Trade Mark Janssen. The first oral broad spectrum anti-fungal. Prescribing information: Each tablet of Nizoral contains 200 mg. ketoconazole. Nizoral is an orally active antimycotic for the treatment in patients, of vaginal candidosis, superficial and systemic mycoses including dermatophyte and yeast infections of the skin, hair and nails, yeast infections of the mouth, and G.I. tracts. Also maintenance treatment of systemtic mycoses and chronic mucocutaneous candidosis and prophylaxis in "at risk" patients. Effects, precautions, contra-indications: Contraindicated in pregnancy. For maximal absoprtion, Nizoral should be taken with meals. The use of agents which reduce gastric acidity (anti-cholinergic drugs, antacids, H2 blockers) should be avoided and, if indicated, such drugs should be taken not less than two hours after Nizoral. Nausea, skin rash, headache, and pruritus may occasionally be observed. Alterations in liver function tests have occurred in patients in ketoconazole, these changes may be transient. Vaginal candidases: 2 tablets once daily (with dinner) for 5 days. In all dermatological and in systemic fungal infections: 1 tablet daily (with dinner) until complete symptomatic and myscological cure is obtained., Janssen Pharmaceutica, Image of a drug breaking through a horizontal rainbow line.

"It is always darkest just before the day dawneth" Saroten Retard (sustained-release amitriptyline). A simpler and safe amitriptyline therapy. Saroten Retard. Simple administration ensures that the patient is receiving his medicine. Lower acute toxicity reduces the risk of serious complications in the event of poisoning. A more even serum level, eliminating peak concentrations. Less total metabolic strain on the organism. The daily dose of Saroten Retard is two-thirds of that of amitriptyline in the usual tablet form. A number of double blind clinical studies have consistently shown that Saroten Retard at night equals two thirds of the usual dose of amitriptyline in the conventional tablet form in 3 divided doses.
