This is the Bug between Russia and Poland. With all due respect to their Russian neighbors, Polish people will tell you it is they who invented vodka in the first place. This was the bug between Russia and Poland. Clearly a question of whose national pride. So after our success with the Russians, we crossed the Bug river into Poland. The first person we met was a typical Polish fishermen. We poured him a typical Canadian drink: Alberta Vodka, orange juice and cherry brandy. He sipped and quickly put the glass down. We poured him a glass of Alberta Vodka straight, instead. He drank it. Then he smiled. And nodded. When we pointed out the Alberta Vodka label, he laughed. Then asked for another taste. Proving to us once more that you don't need a Russian sounding name to make a great vodka. Alberta Pure Vodka: No wonder it's Canada's largest selling Vodka at the popular price., Brand: Alberta Vodka selling vodka. The day the west won Warsaw. May Day (1974): Following the great success in Moscow, we headed for Poland. It was there, in Stare Miastro, one of the oldest squares in Warsaw, that we achieved our finest hour. We knew that Polish people, like their Russian neighbors, love their vodka ( in fact they claim they invented it) so we felt a little uneasy as we made our way through the crowds at the height of May Day celebrations. We placed a bottle of Alberta Vodka at one of the tables at the outdoor cafe and beckoned to the group at the next table. They came over, curious to see what the 'foreigners' were up to. We offered to drink to their leader who accepted it hesitantly. He sniffed at it, took a sip and then another. We held our breath, this was the moment of truth. The young man looked up with a big smile and turned to our translator "This is excellent vodka." He said something to his friends who all surged forward, glasses outstretched, eager to sample our Alberta Vodka. At once we were part of the festivities. Everywhere we went people were laughing and joking, slapping our backs and calling us przyjaciel (friend). They all found the name on the label very unusual but agreed that our vodka was very smooth. That was how May Day 1974 two Canadians and a bottle of Alberta Vodka conquered Warsaw and proved that it doesn't take a Russian sounding name (or even a Polish one) to make a great vodka. Alberta Pure Vodka : No wonder it's Canada's largest selling vodka at the popular price., Brand: Alberta Vodka selling vodka.
