"Lorazepam reduces excessive emotional response, lowers nervous tension, facilitates self control and reduces emotional outbursts." Ativan exerts a stronger calming and anxiolytic effect. "Compared with ealier benzodiazepines it has in low doses a stronger anxiolytic effect with a low incidence of side effects." Ativan is a valuable adjunct in severely disturbed patients. "By reason of its excellent tolerance and virtual lack of toxicity lorazepam may be safely combined with other psychotropic agents." |
