Haldol a standard in acute schizophrenia. Haldol LA setting its own standards in maintenance therapy. You know Haldol haloperidol. Its use in psychotic emergencies is standard procedure. Now Haldol LA haloperidol decanoate is setting its own standards when it comes to maintenance therapy and reducing the risk of relapse. Compared to other depot antipsychotics and oral haloperidol, it may reduce compliances hurdles like EPS and the need for anti-Parkinsonian medication. For psychotic control, limited comparative studies suggest it is a match for its oral form, and at least as effective as depot forms of fluphenazine, pipotiazine and fluphenthixol.
