Sinequan greater effect in depression/anxiety…less effect on the cardiovascular system. Sinequan is less likely than either imipramine or amitriptyline to cause cardiac conduction defects, both at therapeutic doses and in overdoses. Unlike amitriptyline and imipramine, Sinequan at the normal clinical dosage can be given with guanethidine and related compounds without blocking the anti-hypertensive effect. Sinequan will not pose the problems of euphoria and dependence. Only one case of euphoria was observed in 1,706 patients receiving Sinequan for up to 22 months. Unlike the phenothiazines, Sinequan has no tendency to cause opacities of the lens or cornea after long-term usage. Sinequan will not normally exert any appreciable effect on blood pressure or pulse rate. This holds true even in the elderly who often have exaggerated adverse reactions to psychotropic drugs. |
