When insomnia masks emotional turmoil…Surmontil helps promote sounds, restul sleep while treating the underlying anxiety-depression. Effective in the first days. Surmontil produces sedation and improves sleep in the first days of treatment. Anxiety-depression symptoms can be improved within a week. No effect on REM sleep. Research in the sleep laboratory has demonstrated no interference with REM sleep. Surmontil taken at night obviates the need for hypnotics. Few side effects. In comparative studies, Surmontil produced fewer and less severe side effects than imipramine or amitriptyline, with less dry mouth and very little daytime somnolence. Cardiac safety. No ECG modifications at therapeutic doses. |
