Fibrositis: non-articular rheumatism, a case for <Valium> Roche 'Fibrositis - characterized by pain, tenderness, and stiffness affecting the soft tissues, often with spasm of neighbouring muscles, all of which results in impairment of function…. 'Such people tend to keep their muscles as tense as their minds' (Copeman). <Valium> Roche relaxes mind and body. The electromyograms in Figure show the effect of <Valium> Roche and of a placebo respectively on muscle spasm in a patient with fibrositis. With needle electrodes placed in the patients' fibrositic nodules the so-called 'trigger areas'), EMG recordings were made prior to and 15 to 20 minutes after an intramuscular injection of 1ml (5 mg) injectable <Valium> Roche or 1 ml of placebo. Patients were then placed on oral <Valium> Roche, 2 mg three times daily for one week, after which EMG tracings were again recorded. Control after insertion of electrode needle 1 minute 2 minutes Muscle spasm, untreated. Placebo injection After insertion of electrode needle 1 minute 2 minutes EMG activity following placebo injection. Oral <Valium> Roche After insertion of electrode needle 1 minute 2 minutes EMG activity following administration of <Valium> Roche for one week. Injectable <Valium> Roche After insertion of electrode needle 1 minute 2 minutes EMG activity following i.m. injection of <Valium> Roche. Figure 1. First tracing in each myogram was recorded after electrode-needle insertion. Photographs were taken, using triple exposures, by electrically shifting the oscilloscope base-line (after ARROYO). Dosage should always be "titrated" to the individual patient requirements. |
