Halopidol Janssen. Action Profile. Provides rapid control of the symptomatology associated with acute and chronic psychosis, psychomotor excitation, chronic and acute alcoholism and the behavioral disorders of elders, children and those who are mentally handicapped. It is particularly effective in psychomotor agitation, aggressiveness, anxiety, anorexia, nausea, confused states, deliriums and hallucinations. Lacks effects on renal function, blood stream, and hepatic function. It does not create neurovegetative effects (hypertension, somnolence, constipation and cutaneous reactions do not appear). It begins to act quickly. It does not depress the capacity to concentrate and it does not produce dependance in patients. Good tolerance and great security. Contraindications: Parkinsons disease, endogenous depression, depressive states in general and pregnant women. Secondary effects: Halopidol (Haloperidol) could lead to extrapyrimidal symptoms, being advisable in these cases, its temporary interruption or dosage reduction. Antagonisms and Antidotisms. In cases where extrapyrimidal symptoms (akathisia, tremors and muscular rigidity) present themselves, you can alternatively supply an antiparkinsonism agent. Synergisms. Enhances the action of analgesics and barbituates. Dosage. It is recommended that each dosage is fixed according to each individual case and the sensibility of the patient to the drug.
