Thymoanaleptic. (Very dense text, only going to record "properties" and "uses") Properties: Thymoanaleptic composed as an anxiolytic. Pharmalogical studies have shown that the thymoanaleptic activity of Nortriptyline is of the same order of that of Imipramine or Amitriptyline. Its anxiolytic action is more pronounced and its anticholinergic activity is less than that of Amitriptyline. These properties suggest neurovegetative effects. Uses: All depressive manifestations with associations of anxiety in particular; neurotic depression, reactional depression, atypical depression, depression throughout chronic psychosis, depressive symptoms due to neuroleptic treatment, depressions of involution, endogenous melancholy (manic-depressive psychosis) and other melancholic symptoms, psycho-somatic syndromes. |
