Major neuroleptic, long lasting. The most interesting acquisition in the last few years in psychopharmacology is that of long lasting injectable neuroleptics. The assurance given to prescribers, concerning the administration of medication for the treatment of psychosis, appears to be the principal progress (?), relapses being due, in most cases, to the cessation or intermittent administration of medication. Thanks to the long half life of the drug, the treatment has, for the patient, a semblance of discontinuity and less restrictive psychological effects. These "late" neuroleptics provide, in addition, an important contribution in the organization of the psychiatric care, inpatient or out patient. Possible to turnover patients more rapidly and to maintain their well being for longer. Facilitates the efforts of psychiatric care-takers for maximum rehabilitation of patients. More avaiability for hospital staff which can devote more time for patients and their social reintegration. New progress in the field of long-acting neuroleptics |
